 In 2011 we will start to recycle all wash water from the factory and expect to re use 70% of all water we take in.
We now recycle as much as we can of all our salad and vegetable matter into bio fuel, composts and fertilisers. We work together with several local Kent farmers so they can take advantage of this and revitalise their farming land. The borough's environmental authority has now increased our rating to 5 Gold Stars for the Food Standard Agency “Scores on the Doors” initiative.
In 2011 we will be replacing all cardboard with recyclable plastic crates thus reducing all our cardboard and paper waste by approximately 1,400 tonnes a year.
We are actively working on projects with our film suppliers and with the support of our customers intend to introduce far more environmentally friendly packaging in the future.
Then we are replacing all our fluorescent tubing with LED lighting and motion sensor installation reducing our usage by 50% and replacing all of our ozone depleting refrigeration gas R22 with environmentally friendlier alternatives.
We don't just play lip service to playing our part in making a difference – we like to really do our bit and not just talk about it.
